Seneca County Seeking Proposals for 550+ Acre Willard Campus
Seneca County has issued a Request for Proposals to identify a Preferred Master Developer and Potential Development Partners to facilitate the redevelopment of the 550-acre Willard site on the shore of Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes.
The site’s rich history and prime location—in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country and along the burgeoning semiconductor tech corridor from Syracuse to Buffalo—lend itself well to a variety of reuses. A Highest and Best Use Study conducted by MRB Group with input from the community indicates the Willard campus would be well-positioned for residential, mixed-use, hospitality, commercial, industrial, and recreational uses.
Funding and incentives are available to support development of this site, including $500,000 committed by the Seneca County Board of Supervisors for pre-development work and grant funds from the US EPA Brownfields Assessment Coalition for regulated building materials surveys.
